Nine years after the creation of the company, Christian-Pierre Bourg
arrived at a major crossroads. Refusing to be bought out by the purchaser
of Thomas Collators, Mr. Bourg combined experience with imagination
and filed an application for patents on his unique collating product.
From this point on, under the name of C. P. Bourg, S.A., the company
began to manufacture and distribute its own range of collating products.
C.P. Bourg, S.A. quickly added integral stitch, fold and trim finishing
accessories to complete the collating process.
With the continued development of
the products and growth of the manufacturing facilities, the
Bourg product name became
an established
trademark in the industry. The company continued expanding
its distribution and manufacturing capabilities to other
continents. In 1977 C.P.
Bourg, Inc. was established in New Bedford, Massachusetts,
to function as Bourg headquarters for the North and South
American market places.
In 1986 C.P. Bourg, S.A. acquired Ordibel, a
Belgian company which also manufactured and distributed on a
worldwide basis
competitive
collator products. This acquisition provided increased
production capacity, complementary worldwide distribution and
key subsidiaries
in France and Japan.
Three years later C.P. Bourg acquired A. P. E.,
a high technology company. Today this company is called C.P.
Bourg Electronics
and is responsible for the development and manufacture
of electronic
products which are distributed as a stand alone product
or integrated into existing C.P. Bourg products. This acquisition
has provided
Bourg with technology which is second to none in the graphic
arts industry.
Nearly forty years of continued growth and investment
have made it possible for the C. P. Bourg companies to refine
a strategy which
rests on three pillars: quality, innovation and efficiency.
These are the guiding principles that motivate and unite
the 1,000 plus
Bourg employees around the world to make the Company
what
it is.
